Best Fossils Found That Day

Among the many fossils found that day, the best one was this Conularia. It was particularly nice because the external mold from the shale casing was found just a foot or so away, showing the external features of the Conularia shell.

Pyritized Fossils

Probably the second most interesting find was this tiny pyritized animal, just 12 mm long, that is yet to be identified. It has fine details that should make it easy to identify. Send guesses to billheim@cinci.rr.com.

On the other hand, most of the pyrite material we found on the site had course Pyrite crystals, like the ones in the next two photos, that prevents us from seeing if this is even a fossil.
