Dry Dredgers Paul Sanders Award

(1) fossils of the late Ordovician, and in particular, the Cincinnati Series; and,

(2) fossils in the vicinity of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Last years awards were for upto $1000 each but the coming years are yet to be determined.

Dry Dredgers, Inc. is a non-profit tax-exempt membership organization of amateurs and professionals formed in April, 1942. It is dedicated to stratigraphy and paleontology, particularly in the Cincinnati Series of the Upper Ordovician of the greater Cincinnati area. Its purpose is to stimulate interest and promote paleontology at all levels and to encourage the collection, identification, preservation and classification of fossils of all types. Throughout its history, the Dry Dredgers have encouraged cooperation among amateur and professional paleontologists.

Dry Dredger member Paul Sanders was a regular participant in Club field trips and was known as an enthusiastic amateur and dedicated student of paleontology. His untimely death saddened us all and the Dry Dredgers have named this award in his memory.
 

• All applications must be submitted on the Dry Dredgers Paul Sanders Award application form and be postmarked or E-mailed no later than February 15, 2012. Print the form below and mail it in (safer than online form).

• Please type the application.

• Notification will be no later than April 15, 2012 with an official announcement at the April  2012 meeting, the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Dry Dredgers.

• Any publication or presentation concerning work funded in whole or in part by the Award must acknowledge the Dry Dredgers Paul Sanders Award. A copy of any published work or unpublished manuscript funded in whole or in part by the Award must be given to the Dry Dredgers. Fossil material used in any publication funded by the Award must be deposited in an appropriate repository for public access and study.

• The Selection Committee currently consists of 4 amateur and 5 professional paleontologists, all of whom are members of the Dry Dredgers. All decisions of the Selection committee are final and non-appealable.
